    Artist Entry

  • Open to All Artists. One or two works may be submitted. All fine arts media: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, mixed media and collage.
  • For CAFA members only: who submit one or two pieces online (and are NOT accepted) may submit a third entry as a carry-in for no additional charge.
  • Work must not have been previously shown at the
    Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts or the Mystic Arts Center.

  • There are two ways to enter:
    • Online: until April 10th, 2015
    • Carry-in: Sunday June 14th, & Monday June 15th, 11AM - 5PM at the Mystic Arts Center

    Submission Information

    • Entry Fee

    • Maximum of two entries per Artist
    • $30 for first entry $20 for the second.
      • Note: CAFA Members, second entry is free.

      Eligible Work

    • Open to all artists working in the United States. All fine arts media: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, collage, graphics, fabric. Artists may submit up to two pieces either on-line or carry-in. Work must not have been previously shown with CAFA or the Mystic Arts Center. All works must be priced or marked N.F.S.
    • Hung Work: May not exceed 72" in length or width, must not exceed 35lbs and be appropriately prepared for hanging by having screw eyes and wire attached. Fixed hanging hardware without wire cannot be accepted.
    • Sculpture: Artists are requested to supply their own well-balanced bases and/or pedestals (white pedestals are available for use at the gallery). Standing and hung sculpture weight limit is 30lbs including the base or pedestal if permanently attached. The sculpture and base or pedestal together is limited to 78" in height and 32" in width. Wall hung sculpture may not extend over 18” from the wall. No sculpture shall have protruding surfaces capable of inflicting physical injury. We request sculptors to weigh their work including the base or pedestal and list the weight on the entry form. All work is required to be able to be moved.

Jurors of Selection and Awards

  • Jaclyn Conley:
    Canadian-born artist Jaclyn Conley received her MFA from University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and her BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. She has taught at Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, and she presently teaches at the Hartford Art School in West Hartford.
    Her work is composed of imagery gathered from many sources with which she creates a new scenario that is ever evolving so her audience can interpret it in their own personal way.
    Conley has participated in many past and recent exhibitions throughout Connecticut, New York, and her native Ontario, Canada. One of her more recent awards was the Artist Fellowship from the Connecticut Office of the Arts in 2012. This past year Conley was a juror for the Connecticut College 2014 Fine Art Thesis Show in New London.

Jaclyn Conley

  • Mark Patnode:
    Connecticut artist Mark Patnode, who received his BFA from School of Art and Design, Purchase College in New York, is also the recipient of numerous fellowships, grants, and residencies, including teaching residencies.
    His brilliantly colorful and fluid lines compose great depictions of the Connecticut downtowns and landscapes. Patnode’s Charter Oak painting was chosen by Governor Jodi Rell to be used as the logo for Connecticut’s Tercentennial.
    Patnode has shown his art extensively throughout Connecticut as well as New York, and Bulgaria. He is member of the CT Department of Economic and Community Development – Arts Council as well as the CT Office of the Arts.
